Manne Magady was elected to the Board of
Education in 1997. A retired teacher, he
taught social studies at Lee's Summit
High School for 30 years. Mr. Magady
earned his bachelor's degree in
education from Southwest Missouri State
University and his master's degree in
curriculum from the University of
Missouri. He has also completed 45
post-graduate hours. In the community,
Mr. Magady is an officer in the Jacomo
chapter of Retired School Personnel, a
member of the Lee's Summit CARES
Executive Board, a past co-chairperson
of Lee's Summit Kids Voting, a former
co-chairperson for an R-7 bond election
citizens' committee, a regular volunteer
with Lee's Summit Social Services and a
member of the Lee's Summit Breakfast
Optimist Club, the Breakfast Optimist
Foundation and the Lee's Summit Human
Relations Commission, as chairman. He is
on the executive board of the Lee's
Summit Charitable Foundation. He
attends the Lee's
Summit United Methodist Church and
serves on other various R-7 committees.
Mr. Magady has been recognized as
Eastern Jackson County's Volunteer of
the Year, received the Lee's Summit Noon
Rotary Club's Award for Community
Service, received a certificate of
appreciation from the Missouri
Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education for contributing to the
Missouri Frameworks for Curriculum
Development. In fall 2001, he was named
Retired Educator of the Year by the
Jacomo chapter of Retired School
Personnel.
A Lee's Summit High School graduate, Mr.
Magady is married to Nola Magady, a
retired R-7 School District teacher.
They have two adult children, who both
also graduated from Lee's Summit High
School, and two grandchildren. |
