Kerri Gray,
currently President of Lee’s Summit
CARES has served on the board since
1997. She was born and raised in Sleepy
Hollow, Illinois. She graduated from
Augustana College with a Bachelor of
Arts in Psychology and went on to earn a
Master of Science degree in counseling
from Northern Illinois University.
She started
her career as a Clinic
Director/Therapist for the Minirith
Meier New Life Clinics in Grand Rapids,
Michigan. Kerri moved to Kansas City in
1997 and began her work with ReDiscover
as Community Coordinator for D.A.R.E.,
currently known as Lee’s Summit CARES.
During her time as Community
Coordinator, she helped the board
transition it’s identity to Lee’s Summit
CARES and worked with board members to
develop a mission, vision and strategic
plan consistent with community needs. As
part of this process she led the
taskforce to develop and administer a
community-wide survey to determine
beliefs and ideas on how best to prevent
and combat substance abuse. In 2000,
Kerri transitioned her role to provide
training and educational resources for
parents and students. To date she has
facilitated parenting programs to over
1,700 parents, served as chair for
Parents University, and has facilitated
the, You can Make a Difference bullying
prevention program to over 1,500
students.
Kerri and
her husband Phil have been married for
15 years and reside in Lee’s Summit with
their four daughters. They are active
volunteers through their church, PTA,
and children’s many activities.
