Alcohol beverage retailers (bars, restaurants, cafes, liquor, grocery, and convenience stores) have a key role in preventing youth access to alcohol. While studies show that 65-70% of underage drinkers get their alcohol from adults they know (older siblings, parents, friends over 21), retailers must take special care to avoid selling alcohol to underage persons.
Training employees in responsible selling is an effective way to prevent underage sales and alcohol-related harm. Pathways to Selling Alcohol Safely is a program provided to merchants in the Lee's Summit area that will assist their employees in selling and serving alcohol per the dictates of state statutes. It is a 1 1/2 hour course that is designed for both on and off premise retailers. A certificate of completion will be provided at the end of the program.
Training is offered free of charge to merchants in the Lee's Summit area. To schedule a training call 816.347.3298.
